Knowing my friend, that last sentance tells me a whole lot about the high quality of the Persian VZ-24's. Watch for Persian (Iranian) emblem stamped on chamber.īest military Mauser rifle ever build by Brno. some rifles were also used in Shah Palaceīy guards. It was secret contract for Shah loyalists as he feared to be overhrown in 1932. father of late deposed Shah Reza Pahlavi. absolutely stunning workmanship and qualityĪre so call Brno Persian Mauser VZ24 made in 1933 for Shah of Persia. He's an old Engineer from the BRNO factory now living here in the states.īrno made VZ24 rifles for Turkish Army in early 20’s. If I go in swinging, and get them down to $325 do you think that I'm getting my money's worth?īased on your posting, I asked a friend of mine about the Persian VZ-24's. The floorplate and trigger guard look a little rough (cast metal?) but nothing that couldn't easily be cleaned up. The action is beautiful, I'd say 98% and still has a bit of that Brno "gloss" to it. Its in a crappy stock, but otherwise looks quite intact. The Czech mausers are supposed to be one of the best in quality.I've heard some pretty good things about Brno and the Persian Mausers and I just found one at a local pawn asking $379. The manufacture of these rifles stopped sometime in the 1940’s. This is just an acceptance marking on their part. The CM marking seen on alot of these rifles stands for Copsa Mica, the arms factory in the city of Cugir, which was established and owned by Ceskoslovenska Zbrojovka Brno. Many of these rifles originally had King Carol’s crest in the top of the receiver, but when he was over thrown for Antonescu’s dictatorship the crests were ground off the rifles in Romanian arsenals. The RR block of rifles, was manufactured in 1940. The second letter of the prefix is always R and the blocks range from AR to YR, ZR’s have yet to be seen. These Romanian contract rifles were manufactured in blocks of 25,000 and each block was a serial number with a 2 letter prefix. Brno under Nazi control made VZ24’s to be used by Romania’s army on the Eastern front. When the Nazis took Czechoslovakia during the early years of WWII they also took control of Czech’s small arms factories and used them to build arms for the war. Ceskoslovenska Zbrojovka was founded in 1918 and was the sole supplier of rifles for the Czech military. WaA stamped VZ24 courtesy of Brian Conkle circa 1940. , or CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA, A.S made the VZ24’s in it’s factory in the city of Brno. This is my pre-war Czech Vz24 Mauser with nazi markings intact. There are an estimated 102 million bolt actions with the model 98 action produced world wide. The Mauser action is still used in tons of bolt actions today. The first was Gewehr 98 (gewehr meaning rifle) introduced Apand was designed by Paul Mauser. The Mauser is considered to be one of the best military bolt action rifles of all time. The VZ24 is another rifle that is based on Mauser’s Gewehr 98.
